Proof-of-Service Photos for Owners and Facility Managers on Commercial Arrays
The person who pays for a commercial solar cleaning almost never sees the work. The panels are on a roof they never climb, or over a parking lot they drive through without looking up, or at a building across town. When the statement arrives, the only thing standing between your invoice and a question is proof. On commercial work, that proof is photos.
Why Photos Matter More on Commercial Work
The timing rules in Scheduling Commercial Solar Cleaning Around Business Hours often mean nobody from the business is even there while you work. You might clean at 6am or on a Saturday. The building is locked up and the manager is at home.
A homeowner can step outside and look. An owner with nine buildings cannot. A regional manager approving bills for a dozen properties will not. Before-and-after photos, saved with each job, answer the question before it gets asked: did the crew actually come, and what did they do?
How Photos Work in the Tech App
Techs take before-and-after photos right in the SolarCleaningBossPro tech app, on the job card for that address. The photos are saved with the job, so they stay attached to the right building on the right date. The office sees them when the job is completed. When an owner asks about the March cleaning at Building C, you pull up that job and the photos are there.
No digging through a tech's camera roll. No photos from three buildings mixed together in a group text. Each building's photos sit with that building's job.
What to Photograph on a Big Array
A 300-panel roof does not need 300 photos. It needs the right ones. A good set covers:
- A wide before shot of each section or row, showing the overall soiling.
- A close before shot of the worst spots: bird droppings, pollen, dust lines along the bottom edge.
- The same wide and close shots after, from the same angle, so the difference is obvious.
- Anything unusual: a cracked panel, loose wiring, a nest under the array, damaged critter guards. Photograph it before you touch it.
- Proof of access issues, if any: a locked hatch, a blocked section, a car parked under the carport.
Same angle before and after is the most important habit. A photo of a dirty panel and a photo of a different clean panel proves very little.
On sites the crew visits every quarter, it helps to take the photos from the same spots every time. Write the spots into the access notes: “Before/after from the hatch looking south, and from the northeast corner looking down row 4.” Over a year, the owner gets a set of photos that line up visit after visit, which tells the story of the array far better than a random handful. It also keeps a new crew member from wandering the roof looking for a good angle.
Photos Protect You Too
Photos are not just for the customer. They protect your company when something goes wrong that you did not cause. A cracked panel photographed before cleaning is a cracked panel you did not crack. A car parked under a carport, photographed before you started, is a car you did not damage. A roof membrane already torn near the hatch is a tear you did not make.
When a tech finds damage, they should photograph it, note it on the job, and let the office know. The office can then text the facility manager with the photo, which is a far better conversation than one that starts with the customer finding it on their own.
Photos and Inspections
Many commercial customers add an inspection to their cleaning. Photos are the natural record of that inspection: what the crew looked at and what they found. Keep it practical. Note what you saw, photograph it, and suggest the owner have their solar installer look at anything electrical or structural. Cleaners are not electricians, and the customer will trust you more for saying so.
Before-and-After for Output
Dirty panels produce less power, and owners know it. They can compare their own production app before and after a cleaning if they want to see the difference for themselves. Your photos show the cleaning. Their production app shows the result. Do not make promises about how much more power they will see. Let the owner draw their own conclusion.
Photos Keep Accounts Renewing
When a commercial customer reviews vendors at the end of the year, a quarter-by-quarter photo record of every building is a strong case for keeping you. It shows you came every time, did the work every time, and flagged problems when you found them. That is the heart of Keeping Commercial Solar Cleaning Accounts Renewing Year After Year.
