Selling Solar Cleaning Plans Online: The Sign-Up Form and the Customer App
Not every customer wants to talk to someone. Plenty of homeowners would rather pick a plan on your website at 10pm than wait for a callback the next day. Letting customers sign up for plans online, with the card captured up front, turns your website into a salesperson that never goes home.
Why Online Sign-Ups Matter
Keeping the Solar Cleaning Schedule Full Year-Round With Recurring Plans talked about filling slow months. Online sign-ups help with that too, because they keep coming in when nobody is answering the phone.
Every phone call or quote visit takes time from someone in your company. An online sign-up takes none until the work is scheduled. For simple residential plans with clear pricing, that saves a lot of back-and-forth.
Two Website Forms
SolarCleaningBossPro gives you two forms for your website:
- The request form. For customers who want a quote or have questions. It lands in Form Responses for the office to follow up.
- The sign-up form. For customers ready to buy. They pick a service and enter their card, and the sign-up lands in Form Responses with the card captured.
From Form Responses, one click converts a sign-up into a client. The address goes on the map, and the job is ready for the office to add panel details and schedule.
What to Offer on the Sign-Up Form
Keep the choices simple. A sign-up form with too many options gets abandoned. Many companies offer:
- A one-time cleaning
- A yearly plan
- A twice-a-year plan
Leave commercial work off the sign-up form. Commercial arrays need a site visit and a real estimate. Point those visitors to the request form instead.
Show plan pricing clearly, such as a per-panel price with a minimum. If you price plan visits differently from one-time cleanings, say so. Pricing approaches are covered in Pricing Plan Visits vs One-Time Solar Panel Cleanings.
After the Sign-Up
An online sign-up still needs a human step before the first visit:
- Convert the sign-up into a client with one click.
- Confirm the panel count, mount, stories, pitch and extras. A text asking the customer for a photo of the roof helps.
- Add access notes: spigot location, roof access side, gate code, dog.
- Set the plan's minimum days between visits: 180 for twice a year or 365 for yearly.
- Add tags like Residential and Twice a Year.
- Text the customer to confirm and let them know when to expect the first visit.
Then the first cleaning goes on the Waiting List and onto a route like any other job. After that, the plan comes due on its own.
The Customer App
Existing customers can also sign up for services from the customer app, where they see your services and pricing. That is a natural way for a one-time customer to move onto a plan, or for a plan customer to add bird proofing or an inspection.
The customer app also covers the rest of the relationship: the live route map on cleaning day, alert preferences, invoices, online payment, updating the card on file, requesting service, rating the work and referring friends. Pointing new plan customers to it right after they sign up saves the office a lot of calls.
Card Captured, Billing Ready
Because the sign-up form captures the card, billing is ready from day one. When the tech taps Complete on each visit, the invoice is created and the card on file can be charged. The customer never gets a paper bill and the office never chases a payment. More in Auto-Charging Each Recurring Solar Cleaning Visit to the Card on File.
Promote the Form
An online sign-up only works if people find it. Link to it from your homepage, quote follow-ups, truck signs, door hangers and any social media you use. Mention it in texts to one-time customers: “You can sign up for our twice-a-year plan here.”
Check Form Responses every day. An online sign-up is a customer who has already said yes and handed over a card; leaving it for a week is the fastest way to lose them. A same-day confirmation text tells them a real company is on the other end and sets the tone for the whole plan.
If a sign-up comes in for a property that looks unusual, such as a 3+ story roof or a large ground mount, call or text before scheduling. Confirm the details and the price so the first visit holds no surprises for anyone.
Sell Plans While You Sleep
A clear sign-up form with the card captured turns website visitors into plan customers without a phone call. For how online sign-ups feed into plans, the Waiting List and billing, visit the recurring solar cleaning software page.
