Access Notes in Solar Panel Cleaning Software: Spigots, Roof Access, Gates and Dogs

The panels are the job. Getting to the panels is the part that eats the clock. Where do you hook up the water? Which side of the house can you safely put the ladder on? What is the gate code? Is there a dog back there? A tech who knows the answers before pulling up gets to work. A tech who does not spends the first ten minutes walking around the house.

The Line Below the Panel Details

Panel Count, Mount, Stories and Pitch: Panel Details in Solar Panel Cleaning Software covered what is on the roof. Access notes cover how to reach it. In SolarCleaningBossPro they sit right under the panel details, on the office lists and on the tech's phone, and like the panel details they are entered once and shown on every visit after.

The four access notes that matter most for solar work are the spigot, the roof access side, the gate code and the dog.

Spigot Location

Many solar cleaners run a pure-water system off the customer's outside tap. Finding that tap on a new house can take longer than you would think. Spigots hide behind AC units, under decks, inside garages and behind bushes. Some houses have one that works and one that has been shut off for years.

A good spigot note is specific:

That last one is worth knowing before the truck leaves the shop.

Roof Access Side

On a roof mount, where you set the ladder is a safety decision, not just a convenience. Some sides have soft ground, a slope, a flower bed or a power line. Some sides put you on the roof right next to the array; others make you cross the whole roof to get there.

Write down the side that worked: “Ladder on back patio slab, lowest eave by the kitchen.” “Do not use the north side, power line to the house.” The next tech starts from a known safe spot instead of figuring it out again. It does not replace judgment on the day, and fall protection and staying off the panels still apply on every roof, but it gives everyone the same starting point.

Gate Codes

Ground mounts often sit behind a fence, and many roof accesses are in the back yard. Gate notes should say which gate, what code and what to do if it fails:

Codes stored on the address are better than codes in a group text. The current code is the only one shown, and techs see it only after logging in with their personal PIN. When someone leaves the company, turning off their PIN turns off their access.

Dogs

Dogs are access information too. Is there one? Is it friendly? Can it get out through an open gate? “Friendly lab, will follow you around” is a different stop from “Do not enter if dog is out.”

The customer alerts help a lot here. A customer who gets a night-before reminder and a text when they are next can bring the dog in before the truck pulls up. The customer can also watch the crew on the live map in the customer app and know about when to expect them.

Keeping Notes Current

Codes change, dogs come and go, and spigots get moved during remodels. Whenever a tech finds a note is wrong, they should write the fix in the job notes from the tech app. The office updates the address once, and every future visit shows the new information.

It helps to make this a habit on first cleanings. The first visit to a new address is when the tech learns the most, so ask them to fill in or correct every access note before tapping Complete. The Tech App Side of Solar Panel Cleaning Software shows where notes fit in the tech's day.

Less Calling, More Cleaning

Every access question that is answered on the card is a phone call the office does not take and a few minutes the tech does not lose. Across a full route, and across every recurring visit for years, that adds up.
