Logging In to the Solar Cleaning App: Company Login Plus a Personal PIN
The first thing a solar cleaning tech does with the app each morning is sign in. It should take seconds, it should work on the phone they already own, and it should make sure that the jobs, photos and hours recorded that day belong to them and nobody else. SolarCleaningBossPro handles that with two pieces: a company login shared by your crew, and a personal PIN for each tech.
Two Pieces, Two Jobs
If you have not read the overview yet, start with Solar Cleaning App: The Complete Guide for Solar Panel Cleaning Companies and Their Techs. It shows where the login fits in the full day.
The company login tells the app which company the phone belongs to. It points the tech at your jobs, your customers and your trucks. The personal PIN tells the app which tech is holding the phone. When a tech taps Start on a rooftop job, takes a photo of bird droppings on the bottom row or clocks in at the shop, the PIN is what puts their name on it.
Splitting it this way keeps login simple for the crew. They do not each need an email address and a long password to remember. They need the company login, which you give them once, and a short PIN that is theirs.
Setting Up a Tech
In the office, each employee gets a record with their name, a personal PIN and the truck they are assigned to. Truck assignment matters because the dispatch board assigns jobs by truck, and the tech's phone shows the jobs for the truck they run. A tech on the residential truck sees homes. A tech on the commercial truck sees warehouse roofs and carports.
Pick PINs that are not obvious. Birthdays, “1234” and the last four of a phone number are the first things someone else would try. Tell each tech to keep theirs to themselves, the same way they would a bank card PIN.
The First Morning
On day one, the new tech opens the app link in the browser on their iPhone or Android phone. There is nothing to download from an app store. They can add it to the home screen so it opens with one tap after that, the same as any other app. Then they enter the company login and their PIN, and the day's jobs appear in route order.
Do this at the shop, not in the truck at the first stop. A few minutes at the shop with the owner or a lead tech standing there clears up any confusion before the ladders come off the rack. The full walkthrough of a first day is in Training a New Solar Cleaning Tech on the App in One Ride-Along.
Why Personal PINs Matter in Solar Cleaning
It is tempting to have the whole crew share one login. It is simpler for a week. After that it causes problems:
- Photos with no name. When a customer says the panels over the garage were missed, you want to know who was on that roof and look at what they photographed.
- Hours that cannot be sorted. The time clock only works if each clock-in belongs to one person.
- Notes nobody can follow up on. “Nest under the east array” is useful. Knowing which tech saw it, so the office can ask how big it was, is more useful.
- Access that never ends. A shared login means every former employee still has it.
When Someone Leaves
Solar cleaning crews change, especially when the busy season ends. When a tech leaves, turn off their PIN in the office. Their phone no longer opens your jobs, which means it no longer shows gate codes, customer addresses or access notes. Nobody has to change the company login or re-teach the rest of the crew.
This is one of the quiet reasons to move off paper and group texts. A printed job sheet left in a former tech's glovebox has every gate code on it. A PIN that has been turned off shows nothing.
Common Login Questions From Techs
- “I forgot my PIN.” The office can check it or set a new one on the employee record.
- “My phone died.” Sign in on a crew phone or a borrowed phone with the same company login and your own PIN. The jobs are not stored on one device.
- “I see the wrong jobs.” Usually the tech is assigned to the wrong truck. Fix it on the employee record or on the dispatch board.
- “Do I need to log in every day?” Installing the app to the home screen keeps it handy. Signing in with the PIN is quick either way.
A Short Login Is the Start of a Short Day
Login is the least exciting part of the app, but it is the part every tech touches every day. Keep it simple, keep PINs personal, and the rest follows: the right jobs in the right order on the right phone, with photos and hours that belong to the right person.
